Jatropha Journey from Jungle to Jet Fuel

Aiming at high profitability of jatropha, other nonfood plantation and providing efficient management tool for producers and accurate prediction process for policy makers, further to discuss relevant information, Center For Jatropha Promotion & Biodiesel (CJP) has designed & dedicated the 6th Global Jatropha Hi-tech Integrated Nonfood Biodiesel Farming & Technology Training Programme from 23rd September to 27th September 2013, at Jaipur, India. Global JatrophaWorld 2013 marks the 6th edition with resounding success. The programmes will give the scientific information needed to support biofuel production and create co-products that will enhance the overall value of a biobased economy within the framework of plant science and technology focusing on the following aspects:

  • Specialized know-how on plant selection
  • Genetic optimization & customized breeding
  • Development of advanced propagation methods
  • Optimization of oil extraction processes
  • Development of specialized equipment
  • Trans-esterification
  • Residue utilization (oil cake e.g. for feedstock)

Hybridization and selection have both been involved in the origin of crops and the process of domestication since early times. Analysis of the genetic, genomic and molecular basis of the traits selected by early growers that constitute the domestication syndrome in crops, such as loss of seed and increased organ size, has been a major focus of much recent research. Profound insights into traits associated with crop domestication have resulted from the technologies and discoveries made at CJP Level. Progress The future course of domestication will continue to rely on changes to the architecture, metabolism and physiology of crops. To cope with new challenges to crop production, efficient approaches to screen germplasm for genes to both biotic and abiotic stresses in wild and cultivated germplasm are needed. Progress in understanding crop domestication, and further advances that lead to greater quantities and improved quality of non food crops, depend increasingly on multidisciplinary team approaches. It is hoped that the all round efforts here will stimulate ideas to help sciences associated with crop domestication achieve needed future super-domesticates

New Potential for Next Generation Feedstocks

CJP started commercial farming of Jatropha from wild selected seeds 1.0 in 2003 and now reached with improved enhanced Jatropha 3.0 with more oil and more yield. CJP scientists are continuously working on enhanced genetics, agronomics and horticulture sciences to drive new varieties, more knowledge around the plant’s nutritional requirements and more science-based processes for the care and custody of the plant and have achieved reliable and scalable results in Jatropha energy farming. Even a superior genotype variety planted in inadequate soil and improperly cared for, will be unable to reach its potential and will create dissatisfied stakeholders. The CJP’s goal is to triple Jatropha yields within 10 years, increase the oil content to 48 percent and in combination of other crops the target oil yield is 1500 gallon per ha. Further, to increase the quality of the oils and other products produced—while minimizing inputs including pesticides and fertilizers.

A 5 day ’one stop shop’ assemble the various nonfood biofuel feedstocks value chain with featured discussion of new feedstocks and accelerate the commercialization of sustainable mobility. The Programe features 1st three days of concurrent sessions on topics High Powered Energy Crops- Overview of new high-yielding energy crops such as Jatropha, Algae, Castor, Pongamia, Moringa, Simarouba, Jojoba, and others - possible yields, cropping density, propagations, horticulture, Plant Science & Genetic Developments including sessions on the economic and business aspects of the biofuel business. The rest 2 days shall be dedicated Practical sessions on Plantation, oil extraction and biodiesel processing technology taking the learning beyond the air-conditioned comfort of the conference room, and out into the actual field where they were able to see, touch, feel and do Jatropha and other plants planting first-hand, making oil/biodiesel their self. The meeting is being held at Pink city Jaipur, India.

To create, build and succeed in the growing world of biodiesel one need complete and comprehensive updated knowledge of Plant Science, Plant Technology and Plant Economics and just registering yourself for the mega happenings in the Jatropha world, you can ensure the same as this is the only platform to understand & learn, to plan and execute, the best expertise to discuss and analyze the present and future dynamics of Jatropha, other nonfood oil crops

As seats are limited one can contact Director Training on tele +91 141 2335839 or mail to jatrophaworld2013@gmail.com to sign up for the 6th Global JatrophaWorld training early and secure his/her Place
