Several key players located in the United Arab Emirates have confirmed their presence at EcoWASTE 2014.The Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group (ADSG), a membership organization established in 2008 to promote sustainability management in Abu Dhabi in a spirit of cooperation and open dialogue, was one of the first to do so.
“One of the key focus areas identified by ADSG members is waste management - and it is something that we have been working on with our members and stakeholders for the last two years. In fact, our participation in Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) includes having sessions and speakers who will highlight and raise awareness about waste management.” said Huda Al Houqani from the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Group (ADSG).
Bee’ah, headquartered in the Emirate of Sharjah, will also be attending EcoWASTE 2014. With over 300 million dirhams invested in tools and infrastructure as an effort to overcome the UAE’s waste challenges and by means of several projects, Bee’ah has enabled the Emirate of Sharjah to benefit from its waste and put resources back into the economic cycle.
Other organizations, most of them based in countries known for their environmentally-friendly initiatives, such as Germany, Switzerland and Finland, among others, will also make their way to EcoWASTE 2014 to showcase some of their latest and most innovative technologies.
Eldan Recycling, from Denmark, is a global supplier of recycling equipment for processing of tyres, cables, WEEE, aluminium, refrigerators, MSW, magnesium and various scrap. The company has delivered machines and complete turn-key systems to the recycling industry for more than 55 years and holds a track record of over 7100 single machines and 830 plants delivered worldwide – including several recycling plants to the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Jordan.
Henning Nørgaard, Territory Manager at Eldan, believes fast construction growth, an increasing manufacturing base and a booming service sector, has opened up new opportunities for the recycling industry, especially in the United Arab Emirates.
“We have noticed a fast increase in requests from the United Arab Emirates since we sold our first tire recycling plant to the region back in 2004. Recent inquiries to Eldan Recycling show that many local players have realized that waste is not worthless. The United Arab Emirates is not just expanding fast they are also a world leader in adapting new technologies, and ideas. We are definitely looking forward to EcoWASTE 2014.”
The Center of Waste Management – Abu Dhabi (CWM), the lead agency responsible for controlling and coordinating waste management activities, policies, strategies and contractual systems through the Emirate, who has partnered with Masdar to host EcoWASTE 2014, is certain of the success of the event.
“We are happy to see so many leading companies sign-up for EcoWASTE 2014. By coming together, networking and exchanging best practices we have an even greater chance of finding more efficient and effective ways to manage waste locally and globally. We are positive that through its targeted exhibition and workshops EcoWASTE 2014 will provide great growth opportunities for all participants.” said H.E.
