The EU Business Avenues in South East Asia programme is built on the successful EU Gateway model of business support. The EU Gateway has continually allowed EU companies from various industries like Environment and Energy, Healthcare and Medical, Construction and Building, Interior Design and Fashion Design to extend their business in Japan and South Korea since 1994.
Business Avenues is an European Union (EU) funded programme implemented and managed by the Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI) under the Instrument for Cooperation with Industrialized Countries (ICI). It aims to help EU businesses understand the characteristics of the ASEAN market, with the ultimate goal of establishing mutually beneficial and lasting business relationships between the Union and local ASEAN companies.
It aims to strengthen the presence of European companies in South East Asia by organizing one week Business Missions to Singapore, Malaysia and Vietnam. Selected EU companies will participate in the programme which gives the opportunity for the companies to meet potential business partners in the region. It provides strategic, logistic and financial support for European SMEs to gain first-hand experience of dynamic, local markets and establish business contacts with South East Asian companies.
Singapore, being the hub to serve the Pacific Rim, will serve as the home of the first EU Business Avenues programme in South East Asia. During the pilot phase, EU Business Avenues focuses its activities on the Clean Technologies and Interior Design sectors.
