Support Colombian Craftsmanship, a step towards sustainable fashion

CASTELLANO, a London based, ethical fashion brand is launching a Kickstarter campaign on the 25th October to raise £50K or more in 30 days. Daniela Castellanos, the founder, has started to build a community that can support her mission of giving 250 jobs to indigenous women in Colombia and become a leading example in the fashion industry.

Her innovation is an ethical backpack that takes around 20 days to make just by hand using a fine crochet technique and soft leather. This piece not only preserve Colombian heritage, it supports women from the Wayuu community in La Guajira Colombia who live with limited access to electricity, water and food.

Daniela’s story and journey as a social entrepreneur has been cover by Forbes and the Huffington post. Recently Cosmopolitan UK mention her on a list of 7 Young women doing amazing things to empower others. You can support her pre-campaign Kickstarter by joining her Thunderclap campaign here, and also enter her pre-launch competition to get the chance to win a 100% handmade CASTELLANO Backpack here

If you want to have a direct contact with the artisans in Colombia visit her youtube channel where you can watch a dozen on videos and interviews translated to english.
