PSS on Industrial Energy Efficiency – Case Studies on Integrative Design and Air-Conditioning System

Launched in February 2004, the Professional Sharing Series (PSS) aims to promote a dynamic exchange of environmental knowledge amongst NEA and the public sector, as well as industries, academics and businesses. PSS is a knowledge-sharing platform where SEI periodically brings in professionals in their respective fields to share their expertise and perspectives on environmental issues. Topics that have been covered range from emerging environmental technologies and management approaches, to good environmental practices and environmental awareness.

Energy consumption is a growing concern, given the increase in world population and attendant economic activities. It is vital that we reduce energy consumption by embracing strategies that can significantly improve energy efficiency – the first step in ensuring long term sustainability. This PSS lecture explores the strategies and case studies that have successfully achieved energy efficiency improvements and cost savings. The focus will be on integrative design, airside optimisation and chiller plant measurement and verification.
