INTRODUCTION TO RESPONSIBLE INVESTMENT
– BEGINNER LEVEL -
The course will provide an overview and basic understanding of Socially Responsible Investment, including:
- understanding of SRI market and its development
- knowledge of key players and figures (funds, shareholder etc)
- knowledge of the most important strategies to distinguish socially responsible from ‘normal’ investments
- ability to use these strategies
Responsible Investment (RI) is the practice of factoring environmental, social and governance issues into traditional security analysis. These factors can have a material impact on a company’s recruitment, brand value, cost of capital, operational costs, license to operate, relations with regulatory agencies and ultimately, share price.
Workshop program:
In this 1-day beginner course, participants will explore the spectrum of practices under the larger label of responsible investing (RI), noting regional differences. The course will introduce the main governance bodies for the global responsible investment industry and the role played by ESG rating agencies. Finally, the course will go through a case study of how ESG impacts, risks and opportunities are analysed, ending on the implications for companies seeking to appeal to capital from responsible investors.
