PID certification enhances PV product visibility
Potential-induced degradation (PID) has become a major concern in the solar industry as it can significantly reduce the power output of a PV system. TÜV Rheinland has carried out extensive researches and published papers on the subject of PID and has been well able to provide certification services in this aspect.
SunCup competition for comprehensive assessment of solar panels
The first-ever TÜV Rheinland - SunCup™ competition is ready to start! As first of its kind in China, the competition aims to objectively rank measured data of PV modules while the samples under test will be selected randomly from production line. The competition will take place in Yunnan, China, where TÜV Rheinland has set up a special outdoor test lab and will make use of advanced in-house developed measurement systems to monitor the participating panels continuously.
The benchmarking test simulates the operation of solar panels in a power plant for a period of one year. During this time the panels are maintained at their maximum operating power point while the current, voltage and temperatures are recorded per second. Environmental and irradiance data is synchronously recorded and provided along with the panel information for deep analysis.
All participants will receive a quarterly report outlining their position in the race — recorded power level, and temperature, environmental, weather and irradiance information — to provide objective data to analyze and promote their products performance under real conditions. In the end, the top panels will be ranked based on the recorded data. Undoubtedly, the SunCup competition will be a real, pioneering contest for solar panels.
