CJP holds global meet on Moringa oleifera to highlight genetics, agronomics and horticulture advancement in Moringa farming

CJP’s 2 Day Moringa State of Art International Workshop “Global Moringa Meet 2012” from April 16-17, 2012, Jaipur, India shall focus on Genetics, Agronomics and Horticulture Advancement in Moringa Farming.

The Center for Jatropha Promotion & Biodiesel (CJP) has identified, developed and cultivated as many as 15 non-food oil crops. With years of continuing research, experiments and trials has provided an adage to find and develop sustainable second-generation biodiesel feedstock with low cost input technology. In the search for more environmentally friendly fuels, the use of Moringa oil as “Biodiesel and Biojet fuel” has proven to have technical and ecological benefits, and stands as an opportunity for agricultural development in arid and impoverished areas throughout the tropics and sub tropics globally. Besides reducing life-cycle emissions because of its high oil content (40%), relatively high crop yield and less competition with food crops.

Moringa oleifera is a small to medium-sized deciduous tree that develops a swollen underground rootstock. It produces large elongated capsules, each containing numerous seeds.

Moringa oleifera has been grown since ancient times and is now widely cultivated and naturalised throughout the tropical and subtropical world. It is drought resistant, preferring regions with a wet/dry climate, but can grow in a wide range of habitats on a variety of soils.

Almost all parts of the plant are potentially useful, including for food, fodder, medicine, fuel wood and fertilizer. The seeds are probably the most useful part of the plant, containing a significant percentage of high quality oil. Recently, the large-scale cultivation of Moringa oleifera has been suggested as a potential source of biofuel.

Life cycle analysis of biodiesel produced from Moringa showed that the greenhouse gases emissions were reduced by 90 per cent when compared to petroleum diesel. Given the widespread presence and ease of cultivation of the Moringa oil plant it could be cultivated in conjunction with subsistence agriculture programs as a potential oilseed feedstock for biodiesel.

CJP has the honour of establishing this untapped resource as an alternative source of Bio- Diesel.

CJP’s Global Moringa Meet focuses on the entire Moringa production, from ground zero to scale. Topics are carefully selected to cover the Agronomy, Horticulture, Biology, Engineering, Marketing and Financial aspects of Moringa commercialization. CJP is recognized as an important platform for productive exchanges among the Academic, Commercial and Investment communities.  Join us at this unique knowledge platform to share the latest information on:

An Update from the Moringa Industry Advances in Moringa Research & development Production Systems  Commercial track of Moringa — Leading the Way to New heights Harvesting and Extraction Frontiers of Moringa Biotechnology and so on—-¬

The members of Moringa crop industries can use the resources to be outlined in the meeting to collectively focus on their goals and pursue them in ways that improve their chances of making best bet decisions. This will involve identifying consumer needs, clearly defining the Moringa crop product, establishing the human and technical components of the supply chain and entering a commercial market, once appropriate benchmarks for investment, growth and returns have been set. Applying such an approach to Moringa crop industry, one can also provide a framework for the industry to determine its needs in terms of future growth, research and development

Moringa has demonstrated a favorable response to many of the practices and techniques currently used in agriculture, but research is needed to understand its unique properties that can be manipulated to coax the crop to reach its fullest potential. Among agronomic questions that can only be readily got answered in the programme

In the recent years Moringa oil industry has caught the great attention in the global market and, as the world’s one of the Moringa producer, India plays a very important role in it. Thus, it is very important for stakeholders of Moringa oil industry to continuously and constantly to keep updated on the technology due to its potential in maximizing productivity and achieving further efficiency. CJP holds the Global MORINGA MEET 2012 as an important event for global Moringa stakeholders. This event will provide reliable information on Moringa, market dynamics, and also with the latest issues in the industry.

The Forming and Managing Supply Chains in Agribusiness learning package helps managers to learn what is required to “hand craft” their own supply chain as a way of improving their Moringa crop enterprise’s chances of success. The package would be of interest to anyone in the Moringa crop development process, but is specially targeted at those who are close to the full commercialization stage. Moringa Meet 2012 shall Highlights the updated research and technology; Experts will meet to reveal the latest developments in Moringa research, the newest agricultural, horticultural, harvesting and modification techniques, and tell how the process can be scaled up. It will provide an excellent opportunity to the investors, entrepreneurs, renewable fuel experts, their associates and academia to share their experiences and knowledge on Moringa. It will give them an excellent opportunity to know more about the latest research and developments in production. The Programme would cover all the topics related to Moringa Industry with Plantation visit

This is a ‘not to be missed’ opportunity for new growers to start in the Moringa business.
