Kantor says she wants to change the way many brands approach sustainability, which is to talk about it only on Earth Day or with a one-off PR stunt.

Agency founder Laura Kantor said she wants to change the way many brands approach sustainability, which is to talk about it only on Earth Day or with a one off PR stunt.

The former Singapore sustainability manager for food delivery brand Foodpanda, Laura Kantor, has launched a marketing and sustainability agency named Climate Club.

Kantor is best known in the industry for her time with Foodpanda, where she spearheaded the launch of initiatives to cut single-use plastic cutlery from deliveries and for Foodpanda to become the first delivery company to ban the sale of shark fin. Her new agency will focus on embedding sustainability into corporate strategy and “making sustainability a story worth telling”.

Kantor said in a statement: “Very few businesses take sustainability seriously. It’s often only talked about on Earth Day, or with a one-off PR [public relations] stunt, and it doesn’t have to be the case.”

“Our goal is to turn sustainability into a competitive advantage – either by reducing costs or generating revenue, while creating positive impact, so that business leaders make sustainability a priority.”

Climate Club will offer consultancy, strategy and branding services, in addition to workshops and internal employee engagement. Kantor launches her new venture after one year with abillion, a plant-based diet app, where she was chief marketing and impact officer.

Prior to abillion, Kantor was Singapore marketing and sustainability director for Foodpanda, a role she moved into after a stint focused on running the company’s marketing function.

Her background is in marketing, having worked for advertising agency Ogilvy and for British private healthcare Bupa.
