The Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice are calling for entries.
This free-to-enter awards scheme has been running continuously since 1994, making it the longest running international environment awards program in the world. The awards are presented annually every November in the House of Commons, London.
There is no entry fee and the overall winner gets a trip for two to the world’s greenest resort – AquaCity in Slovakia – all winners get a trophy, certificate, a tree planted in their name and thousands of pounds worth of positive PR.
British finalists could also represent the UK in the European Business Awards for the Environment, as the Green Apple Awards is one of the few accredited feeder schemes into this Brussels-led initiative.
Free entries close on May 31, and the annual campaign, launched in 1994, aims to recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice.
Any council, company or organisation in the world can apply for a Green Apple Environment Award – as long as they are doing something that benefits the environment.
There is no entry fee and there are three chances to win - with Gold, Silver and Bronze awards in each category.
National Organiser Roger Wolens commented: “Everyone stands an equal chance because our judges always take into consideration the different levels of resources that contenders have available; so small companies often beat their bigger competitors.”
If you, your company or council is doing anything that benefits the environment, then you are eligible for a Green Apple Award.
The campaign is run by The Green Organisation – an independent, non-political, non-activist, non-profit environment group dedicated to recognising, rewarding and promoting environmental best practice around the world.
