SD2015 - Australia’s annual sustainability focussed event - brings together business, government, NGOs and academia for one day to discuss, debate and celebrate sustainable development.
Opening with the SBA CEO FORUM examining international business sustainability challenges and opportunities, SD2015 concludes with the presentations from the Finalists and then the announcement and celebration of the Winners of Australia’s national BANKSIA SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS.

2015 is critical year for sustainable development and climate change and business is active on all fronts.
AN AUSTRALIAN FIRST
The SBA CEO FORUM brings two of the world’s distinguished leaders driving global business engagement, action and accountability so that you can hear from them how leading businesses are engaged, involved and collaborating on outcomes on these issues. Peter Bakker, President and CEO, World Business Council for Sustainable Development (his first appearance in Australia since becoming CEO of the WBCSD) and Michael Meehan, CEO of the Global Reporting Initiative, will be keynote speakers at the Forum.
AUSTRALIAN INSIGHTS
The SBA CEO Forum also features panel sessions with Australian CEOs, including AGL Limited CEO Andrew Vesy and Unilever Australia & New Zealand CEO Clive Stiff exploring the opportunities and challenges represented by Climate Action and SDGs. Panel sessions are followed by a formal networking lunch.
BANKSIA SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS
Immediately following the Forum the Banksia Sustainability Awards will kick off. The Awards platform is Australia’s number one education, communication, networking and celebratory event that recognises pioneering leaders and innovators in the sustainability sector. ‘The Banksias’ offers a diverse insight into what we are doing well and how we are doing it, with a view to encouraging other Australians to follow. Attending is essential for anyone who wants to learn and be inspired!
FINALIST’S PRESENTATION
The 2015 Banksia Awards Finalists will feature at the Australia’s Sustainability Success Stories Forum to be presented as two concurrent streams, starting 1.45pm until 5.30pm. This unique format trialled in 2014 proved an outstanding way to present the Banksia Sustainability Awards.
AWARDS PRESENTATION
You are then invited to join the celebrations at a Gala Cocktail Function in the Sofitel Sydney’s Ballroom where we will present the winners of the 2015 Banksia Sustainability Awards. A highlight of the evening will be hearing from the 2015 Banksia International Award winner, sponsored by Qantas. After the event, we hope you will be more connected to the potential for sustainability initiatives to invigorate business inspire communities and secure a better future for Australia.
