Growth drivers

  • Bangladesh’s growth forecast predicts doubling of domestic demand by 2030, a 200 per cent increase in industrial water demand, and over 46 per cent increase in irrigation water demand. It is apparent that the demand for water will exceed available groundwater resources, the main source of water supply, by 40 per cent in the dry seasons in a business-as-usual scenario by 2030.
  • It is estimated that the level of investment in new assets (water abstraction treatment and distribution plant as well as effluent treatment plant) to support growth in the textile sector will be in the order of $19 to $30 billion through to 2030 under a “business as usual” water demand scenario.
  • Extensive local demand exists for technology suppliers and offering ETP for industries, technology with low cost and high efficient pumps, Sewerage treatment technology, Solutions for smaller scale water purification technology at low costs, Technology for large scale water treatment, Investment in rural water supply – pumping station/bottled water, Water treatment plants in rural areas, and solution providers of arsenic & fluoride contamination of groundwater.
