TRGC invited to Sino-German Green Building Forum

TÜV Rheinland invited to participate in Sino-German Green Building Symposium

The Sino-German Green Building Symposium, jointly organized by the Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany in Guangzhou and the German Industry & Commerce in Guangzhou, was held on this day at the Grand Hyatt Guangzhou. TÜV Rheinland Greater China, a leading testing and certification service provider, was invited to participate in this symposium. Thomas Fuhrmann, Director of the TÜV Rheinland Greater China Industrial Service Division, shared his ideas on prospects regarding energy consumption and energy savings in building-use elevator operation, on European elevator energy efficiency legalization, and on green solutions in elevator energy efficiency. The symposium promoted German know-how on green building in South China.

Fuhrmann declared that “In 2009, the UNEP Sustainable Buildings & Climate Initiative reported that greenhouse gas emissions from buildings has increased to 30%. Although lifts account for 3 to 8% (4% in EU) of a building’s total power consumption, they have high potential for energy savings. Elevator energy efficiency is an important green building trend in Europe. About 40% of global construction is today happening in China, and China has great potential for applying energy efficiency in buildings and elevators.”

In April of 2010, TÜV Rheinland issued the first VDI 4707 Part 1 certificate in China, to Schindler Group. To date a total of 49 certificates have been issued to the world’s different leading elevator manufacturers, which has helped TÜV Rheinland accumulate both rich local experience and a rich database. In October this year we provided energy efficiency testing for ThyssenKrupp Elevator’s high-speed double-deck passenger lifts (10m/s) installed in the Shanghai World Financial Center, the tallest building in China and currently the third-highest in the world.

TÜV Rheinland is one of the world’s most respected professional inspection bodies in the elevator energy efficiency field. We also certify whole-set elevator and safety components for EC type-examination, according to Lift Directive 95/16/EC, to ensure reliability, quality and safety. With our expertise and growing demand in China, TÜV Rheinland provides the most reliable professional testing and consultancy services for leading elevator manufacturers and tall buildings.
