25 June 2026: GlobeScan, in partnership with ERM and Volans, has launched its 2026 global consultation, inviting stronger participation from Asia-Pacific to help shape the future direction of the sustainability agenda.
At a time of growing pressure on sustainability efforts, questions emerge about whether current approaches remain fit for purpose in a rapidly changing global context. The consultation, delivered through a global survey, builds on the 2025 Sustainability at a Crossroads report, which drew on the perspectives of more than 800 sustainability experts across 70+ countries. This research identified a pivotal inflexion point in the evolution of the global sustainability agenda, with more than nine in ten experts agreeing that significant change is needed.
Despite ongoing challenges, including stalled progress and declining confidence in global frameworks, the findings point to a moment of opportunity. Many experts view the current landscape as a necessary turning point, creating space for more ambitious and effective approaches to delivering a just, low‑carbon, and nature‑positive future.
Regional perspectives, however, remain uneven. While sustainability professionals in parts of North America and Europe report increasing resistance, those in Asia-Pacific are more likely to view current disruptions as opportunities and report comparatively lower levels of backlash. This positions the region as an important driver of innovation and progress in the years ahead.
The 2026 consultation aims to capture how sustainability leaders across business, government, civil society, and academia are responding to a rapidly evolving landscape shaped by geopolitical uncertainty, shifting stakeholder expectations, and the growing need to deliver measurable impact. The findings will inform a public report and a series of global dialogues on the most effective pathways forward.
The survey [https://survey.euro.confirmit.com/wix/p146836534098.aspx?OL=2] is open to sustainability professionals across Asia-Pacific, and participation helps ensure that regional perspectives are fully reflected in global insights.
