Shanghai International Lighting Fair launches this week

The Shanghai International Lighting Fair, a sister event of the renowned Guangzhou International Lighting Exhibition, will make its anticipated debut this year at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre from 3 – 5 September. Organised by Guangzhou Guangya Messe Frankfurt Co Ltd, the show will span over 15,000 sqm of fairground space and is expected to host more than 200 exhibitors.

Project-based professionals including developers, contractors, engineers, designers and dealers will want to attend this event. Visitors will be greeted by a full spectrum of products and solutions for outdoor, commercial, residential and LED lighting applications.

New platform offers vast business opportunities for project-based and green lighting sectors

In its debut, the fair will address the ballooning demands of businesses in the project-based industry for more sustainable lighting alternatives. The strategic emphasis on energy-saving and intelligent lighting technologies will prove valuable to markets in Central and East China as government policies make a push for greener development practices.

For instance, Jiaxing City of Zhejiang Province plans to replace 134,000 traditional street lights with more sustainable LED versions. Additionally, a key project in Shanghai known as the Dalian Road Tunnel plan will implement LED lighting and wireless dimming systems in an effort to reduce overall electricity consumption by up to 60%, translating into estimated savings of over USD85,000 annually.

Our exhibitor, Midea Lighting, a leading domestic brand, expressed confidence regarding the market outlook and is looking forward to joining the fair premiere. Brand Manager Mr Wang Qing Zao said, “East China is one of the most important and competitive markets in the lighting business. This has particularly true in recent years as project-based business has grown rapidly. We are joining the Shanghai fair to introduce our new LED lighting products for commercial and residential sectors. The design of the show will help us capture more business opportunities in this region.”

Ms Sansan Chen, Director and Vice General Manager of Marketing at Shanghai Toplight Tech Co Ltd, will exhibit in the fair and shared a similar view that “East China is a well-developed market that is comprised of a significant portion of middle- to high-end potential buyers. These buyers have high standards for product reliability and prefer personalised designs. To address their needs, we will showcase our COB packaging products at the Shanghai fair. Our goal is to establish closer relationships and deliver reliable support systems to our clients in East China region.”

To deliver the most value to attendees, the show divided important areas of focus into three major events programmes: technology, design and market channels. Supported by concurrent events, the technology side features an “LED Smart Lighting Control Symposium”, the design portion addresses design elements in intelligent lighting with the “Alighting Symposium”, and the market channel features the “e-channel Distribution Symposium” to explore electronic marketing strategies for lighting products.

Featuring multiple concurrent technical fairs for one-stop sourcing of intelligent green building solutions

To offer visitors a one-stop sourcing experience, the Shanghai fair will be held concurrently with three other technical events: ISH Shanghai and CIHE, Shanghai Intelligent Building Technology, and Building Solar China Conference and Exhibition. Collectively known as the “Intelligent Green Building” exhibition platform, these four events will occupy four halls that span across 40,000 sqm of exhibition grounds.

The unifying theme is intelligent green building technologies and solutions that are energy efficient and optimize comfortable living. For buyers hunting for innovative lighting solutions, HVAC, smart home and integrated solar building products, this show is not to be missed. For lighting manufacturers, the opportunities to build integrated partnerships with intelligent building manufacturers are abundant.

The Shanghai International Lighting Fair and Guangzhou International Lighting Fair, two comprehensive lighting and LED events in Asia, are headed by the biennial Light + Building event that takes place from 13 – 18 March 2016 in Frankfurt, Germany.
