Infineum, one of the world leaders in the formulation, manufacture and marketing of petroleum additives for fuels and lubricants, has announced the next phase of its ongoing collaboration with leading Singaporean universities, National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU), with its sponsorship of two new scholarships in 2015, valued at up to S$200,000 over the next five years.
The announcement falls during Singapore’s Golden Jubilee year (SG50), marking 50 years since the country first gained its independence in 1965. Infineum Singapore Pte. Ltd. intends to mark this momentous occasion with a number of celebrations throughout 2015, of which the launch of the university scholarships is the first.
The two scholarships will be open to third and fourth-year Chemical Engineering students studying at NUS and NTU. In conjunction with the launch of these scholarships, Infineum Singapore also intends to invite second-year students from NUS and NTU to take part in a three-week immersion program, which will take place during their school vacation in July, to facilitate their understanding of Infineum’s business and organization culture.
The announcement was made by Mr. Trevor Russell, Executive Vice President, Sales and Supply, Infineum International Ltd. and Managing Director of Infineum Singapore Pte. Ltd., at a signing ceremony with NTU on April 6.
Commenting on the announcement, Mr Russell said:
“We hope that through these new scholarships and our ongoing partnerships with NUS and NTU we will help nurture the brightest young talent to provide them with the necessary skills for their future careers. We value the collaboration between business and learning and will take it as our social responsibility to always use advanced technology to benefit our partners.”
Singapore has become increasingly important to Infineum’s global business having been operational in the country for over 30 years. In recent years Infineum has made significant investment in the country and launched its new Salicylate plant in 2014.
