Industry heavyweights rally behind new sustainable building event

The sustainable building industry in Australia deserves to have its own building event. An event that allows the industry to come together to show its strength and commitment, protecting and promoting Queensland’s built environment and unique lifestyle.

The first of its kind in Australia, SEE Sustainable Experience 2015 is a unique event that provides an education-based platform for participants in the building industry to, firstly, showcase product and solutions that enable the creation of efficient and healthy homes and buildings and, secondly, tell their sustainable stories to industry professionals and the community.

“We are thrilled that industry associations have responded so positively to our event that is all about sustainability rather than being an addition to a building show. They see it like we see it, the importance of propelling sustainability further into the day to day operations of professionals building homes to office blocks.” says Cameron Rosen, Managing Director of Australian Living who has created this event in partnership with FMX Business Solutions.

Master Builders’ Executive Director, Grant Galvin, said Master Builders is excited to be associated with the SEE Sustainable Experience in 2015.

“We know that sustainable building practices are sometimes seen as costing more and adversely impacting on housing affordability, so we’re keen to explore how this view can be challenged,” Grant said.

“The reality is that the majority of Queensland’s residential building industry is largely made up of small businesses, which means that price usually wins over innovation in this space.

“Whether or not a home includes sustainable features is usually driven by consumer demand, so we believe the key to ensuring home buyers and renovators and the building industry embrace sustainable building practices and materials is price, availability and education.

“Master Builders is keen to play a role in raising awareness and increasing demand for solutions that will benefit all Queenslanders in the future.”

Australian Green Development Forum enthusiastically support SEE Sustainable Experience 2015. “We believe positive development is an important focus for future Australian building and SEE will be a great showcase of new product offerings and innovative concepts towards this focus.” says President, Mark Thomson.

Global GreenTag and Ecospecifier Global are proud supporters of the SEE Sustainable Experience 2015. As organisations committed to drive demand for sustainable products, Global GreenTag and Ecospecifier aim to raise awareness of sustainability locally and globally.

David Baggs, ‎CEO & Program Director explains “Our combined involvement in this event supports Queensland’s built environment professionals to protect our natural systems by wise choice of products and design. Ecospecifier and Global GreenTag’s mission is to empower not just individuals but the whole industry by doing their green product research for them and enabling them to make greener product choices through their Sustainable Experience.”

Good Environmental Choice Australia’s (GECA) sole focus is to substantially increase the sustainability of consumption. CEO Rupert Posner says “Our key tool for this is by running a transparent and credible ecolabel that enables consumers to make more sustainable choices. GECA is pleased to support SEE Sustainable Experience 2015, which has the same objective.”

At time of publishing, the Supporting Partners for SEE Sustainable Experience 2015 are Master Builders Association Queensland, Building Designers Association of Queensland, EnviroDevelopment (initiative of Urban Development Institute of Australia Queensland), Association of Building Sustainability Assessors, Australian Green Development Forum, Ecospecifier, Global GreenTag, Good Environmental Choice Australia, Australian Institute of Landscape Designers and Managers, and Building Designers Australia.
