Discover Alfa Laval PAZD 10 at PIPOC 2015

At the MPOB International Palm Oil Congress and Exhibition (PIPOC 2015) in Kuala Lumpur, from 6-8 October, 2015, Alfa Laval – a global supplier of palm oil solutions – presents new processing solutions from milling, to effluent treatment, to refining with focus on high yield, waste upcycling, minimum impact to the environment and reliability – all of which delivers peace of mind with Alfa Laval’s 360° service portfolio. One of the products on display is Alfa Laval PAZD 10, the latest addition to our separator range, purpose-built to meet the requirements of the palm oil milling industry.

Reliable and robust crude palm oil separator

The Alfa Laval PAZD 10 separator is designed to recover waste oil from sterilizer condensate. It can also be used to recover oil from the heavy phase of the decanter. It can recover almost all free oil, even if only present in a very small amount in the feed.

Its unique disc-less design does not hinder it from good oil recovery efficiency, the absence of bowl discs means that there will not be any blockages from non-oily solids and impurities that are normally trapped between the discs. This improves the separation efficiency of the bowl.

Minimal oil losses

The medium is separated immediately after being fed into the rotating distributor. The distributor has a special ‘wing’ design to disperse the medium evenly inside the bowl. The bowl

rotation generates a high centrifugal force, which separates the free oil from the water and solids.

Nozzles are spaced evenly around the edge of the bowl. Their function is to continuously discharge water and solids. To save power, the nozzles are tangentially placed, thereby utilizing the energy of jet reaction from the solids as they discharge.

Optimized protection against wear

The separator has a number of improved, replaceable wear liners, which protect the separator from excessive erosion. The nozzles are made from wear-resistant material in order to extend their lives and optimize the performance with crude palm oil.

The top part of the machine is larger and has a wide outlet to facilitate quick disposal of nozzle flow. This will minimize wear on the outside of the bowl body. It is common to see a lot of wear on bowl discs in applications where the content of sand and impurities is high. The unique design of this distributor eliminates this problem.
