Global investment bank UBS has hired the former head of sustainability for Singapore-based lender United Overseas Bank (UOB), Jiayun Fang, to lead its social impact and philanthropy function in Southeast Asia.

The Singaporean joins UBS with a brief to build partnerships in key areas such as health, education, climate and the environment in the region. The social impact function is part of UBS’ group sustainability and impact team.

The company has a global goal to mobilise US$1 billion through philanthropy platforms and to reach 25 million people through its social impact programmes by next year.

Fang joins UBS after a year and a half at UOB, where she was head of corporate sustainability. She moved on from UOB towards the end of last year. Communications professional Kelyn Tan is now UOB’s corporate sustainability head.

Prior to UOB, Fang led cosmetic firm Shiseido’s Asia Pacific sustainability team. She has also worked for Singapore state investor Temasek, Brazilian food and beverage company BRF and the Maritime Port Authority of Singapore in communications and sustainability roles.
