[Webinar] Raising the bar - Sustainability in the global rice supply chain

[Webinar] Raising the bar - Sustainability in the global rice supply chain

A transformation is needed to the global rice production!

Rice feeds half of the world and also accounts for about 10% of global manmade methane emissions. However, rice has long been a forgotten crop in the global approach to address climate change. But this is all changing now, and we invite you to be part of the solution!

The Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) Standard for Sustainable Rice Cultivation empowers farmers to adopt practicable and sustainable rice farming techniques, while the SRP Performance Indicators allow monitoring of impacts of adoption at several levels.

Since June 2021, the very first SRP-Verified rice products have been available at stores in some European countries! This marks an important milestone in the uptake of the certified sustainable rice.

Join this free webinar which aims to walk you through the SRP scheme and how it can contribute to reducing climate, environmental and social economic impacts of rice production. This will be an informative webinar for businesses involved in sourcing, processing and distributing rice products in markets where sustainability is a norm.

The webinar will feature a line-up of speakers such as Wyn Ellis, Executive Director of Sustainable Rice Platform who will present on the market analysis of the programme, global rice producer LT Foods who will share how potential businesses can engage in this solution, along with Preferred by Nature rice experts who will provide an overview of the certification requirements and process. You will also be able to hear directly from a business that has successfully adopted SRP certification in their supply chains.

The event will end with an open Question & Answer session.

The UN-backed Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) promotes wide-scale adoption of climate-smart sustainable best practice through strategic institutional partnerships. Originally co‐convened by the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ), SRP is now an independent membership association.
