KETTHA unveils programme line-up for 5th International Greentech & Eco Products Exhibition and Conference

Themed “Creating Green Wealth”, IGEM2014 will feature three main components which is the IGEM Exhibition, IGEM Conference and the Minister-Industry Dialogue.

A series of concurrent events will take place throughout the period including MATRADE International Business Matching sessions, MIDA Business Consultation, One-to-One Bizmatch Programme, Green Career Matching, Workshop on Green Procurement and Recycling as well as the KeTTHA Excellence Awards to allow both visitors and participants the opportunity to network and explore potential business partnerships.

Officiating the event, Dato’ Seri DiRaja Mahdzir Khalid said, “IGEM is a key national platform for Malaysians to explore cutting-edge technologies, engage with experts and formulate strategies that will address many of the current challenges that we face in accelerating the national green growth, and will promote sustainable development. IGEM2014 will be officiated by YAB Tan Sri Dato’ Haji Muhyiddin Haji Mohd Yassin,Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia on 16October 2014. This is proof of the Government’s continuous support and commitment towards enhancing the green technology agenda”.

On the IGEM Exhibition front, approximately 200 exhibitors from over 14 countries have confirmed their participation and will be showcasing their products and services in more than 600 booths. The exhibition is thematically structured into an International Pavilion, the Malaysian States Pavilion and an Innovation Pavilion to provide visitors ease of accessibility to their preferred sectors. Additionally, there will also be dedicated zones for Green Energy, Eco-Office and Eco-Home for visitors who are interested to source for sustainable products.

The IGEM Conference will cover topics such as Sustainability, Green Growth, Green IT, Green Innovation, Water and Waste Management as well as Solar and Green Building. Eminent speakers include Mr. Harry Molenaar, Netherlands Ambassador to Malaysia, Mr. Luis Neves, Chairman of the Global e-Sustainability Initiative, and Climate Change and Sustainability Officer, Deutsche Telekom Group, Mr. Eugene Hall, Chief Executive Officer of Gartner, Mr. Benedito Braga, President of World Water Council and Dr. Patrick Meyer, US Embassy Science Fellow.

The Minister-Industry Dialogue is intended to provide an opportunity for in-depth discussion with the invited Ministers and Captains of the Industry on green growth opportunities and strategies. This dialogue will serve as a platform for a robust engagement with the stakeholders to address key issues and pivotal elements of green economic policy, public goals as well as corporate best practices towards driving the green economy in the region.

YB Datuk Seri Panglima Dr. Maximus Johnity Ongkili, Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water will lead the panel discussion that will also be attended by His Excellency Mr. Lee Yi Shyan, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Singapore; His Excellency Pehin Dato’ (Dr.) Mohammad Yasmin Umar, Minister of Energy at Prime Minister’s Office, Brunei Darussalam; His Excellency Mr. Say Samal, Minister of Environment, Kingdom of Cambodia; YBhg Tan Sri Mustafa Mansor, President, Malaysian Green Business Association (MAGBA); and YBhg Dato’ Saw Choo Boon, President, Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM).

Since its inception in 2010, IGEM has recorded about RM4.34 billion in term of potential business leads and transaction. The highest estimated yearly amount was reported back in 2011 at RM1.35 billion. Last year, IGEM recorded a total of 260 exhibitors from 23 countries and over 56,000 visitors from 60 countries. Based on these achievements, it is evident that the green technology sector is fast emerging as a key economic driver for Malaysia.

IGEM2014 will create opportunities for government and policy makers, green technology manufacturers and producers, business owners, green buyers and procurement officers, professionals, non-profit and non-governmental environment groups, trade officers, scientists, researchers, educators and advocates of green technology to forge stronger business and community relationship.
