KeTTHA targets RM1.2 billion deals from IGEM2014

The Ministry of Energy, Green Technology and Water (KeTTHA) will organize the International Greentech and Eco Products Exhibition and Conference Malaysia (IGEM) as a green platform to promote sustainable development in the country.

KeTTHA today unveiled the 5th IGEM which is scheduled from 16 to 19 October 2014 in KLCC. The Soft Launch ceremony was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Seri DiRaja Seri Mahdzir Khalid, Deputy Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water on March 2014.

Also present at the launch were representatives from the co-organisers, Malaysian Green Technology Corporation (GreenTech Malaysia) and Expomal International Sdn. Bhd.

Themed “Creating Green Wealth”, IGEM2014 aims to drive the rapid adoption of green technology which is the emerging driver to deliver a double impact of sustainable economic growth as well as to address environmental such as energy and water security issues.

Based on the previous four editions, IGEM had seen its primary goal of accelerating the acceptance and applications of green technology and eco products in Malaysia being successfully met through the many business transactions and prospective leads that emerged from these events.

Officiating the event, Dato’ Seri DiRaja Mahdzir Khalid said, “Since its inception in 2010, IGEM has created numerous business opportunities for industry players across the globe and has generated great potential investments for Malaysia. I am very pleased to share that the highest recorded business leads arising from an IGEM event came to an impressive RM1.3 billion in a single year.”

The continued participation of such a broad spectrum of Malaysian and international industries also indicates the high level of commitment shown by the business community and industry in further driving the green technology agenda in Malaysia.

“IGEM is a very special and unique international exhibition and conference; surpassing other exhibitions or conferences that are hosted in Malaysia or within this region. IGEM is fully supported and organised by the Malaysian Government, providing a platform for industry players to showcase innovative green products and eco services and to further promote the adoption of green technology. The IGEM series has also been carefully planned to feature a range of supporting events and programmes that will encourage the participation and engagement of all levels of industry, NGOs, investors, and the community”, he added.

IGEM2014 will also be making waves in heralding a multitude of strategic, high impact showcases, conference that will be focusing on green innovation, programs and activities to advance the green growth. The highlight of IGEM2014 will include exhibitions from various countries, high-level two-day Green Technology Conference, the International Buyer Programme, Business Clinic, One-to-One Business Matching Programmes, Minister-Industry Dialogue, Green Insights – workshops and seminars, KeTTHA Excellence Award and many more. These programmes have been proven successful and will be the major platform for green business transactions throughout the four day event.

IGEM2014 will create opportunities for government and policy makers, green technology manufacturers and producers, business owners, green buyers and procurement officers, professionals, non-profit and non-governmental environment groups, trade officers, scientists, researchers, educators and advocates of green technology to forge stronger business and community relationship.
