Danwood Partners with the 6th INTERNATIONAL GREEN AWARDS™

The INTERNATIONAL GREEN AWARDS™,a global programme which recognises inspiring and innovative approaches to sustainability, is pleased to announce a partnership with The Danwood Group, Europe’s largest independent supplier of print and document management solutions, to recognise and promote innovative ‘green’ technologies.

Great ideas, organisations and people deserve recognition. Recognition inspires change. It motivates and rewards people. It propagates and fertilizes new thinking. Which is why, in a bid to recognise sustainability wherever it occurs, the INTERNATIONAL GREEN AWARDS™ search the globe every year to find true influencers, leaders, entrepreneurs and innovators. To discover and showcase the genuine game-changers in a way that will educate and inspire others.

For Danwood, as Europe’s largest independent supplier of print and document management solutions, technology is at the heart of their business and using digital office print technology to help their customers deliver environmental and financial savings is the foundation of the business.  Therefore, supporting an award that rewards the best in green technology is an effective way of showing other businesses the emphasis Danwood places on sustainable solutions through the best technology.

The recent launch of the ‘Print Ecology’ brand, a partnership with Kyocera Mita, is another step in the company’s sustainability strategy.

Graham Reeve, MD for Business Development and Strategy at Danwood stated. “Danwood have evolved a go-to-market approach for many years around driving cost out of business operations related to print, with the incremental benefits of enhanced environmental impacts and reduced carbon footprints; something we take incredibly seriously.”

Accredited by the Royal Society of Arts’ Environmental Awards Accreditation Scheme, the awards programme is now in its sixth year. The Awards enlighten the world through showcasing the best in class examples of creativity in business, citizen and government initiatives leading to sustainable outcomes globally.

Last year’s Lifetime Achievement Award winner Sir David Attenborough CBE commented “Biodiversity is the core of the sustenance of life; which currently hangs in delicate balance. By recognising creative excellence and effectiveness the INTERNATIONAL GREEN AWARDS™ are a genuine effort to promote positive attitudes towards biodiversity and sustainability.”

THE DANWOOD GROUP

Danwood is Europe’s largest independent supplier of print and document management solutions.  Our holistic approach includes consultancy, hardware, consumables, software, service and maintenance programmes.  As experts in our field we help organisations to measure the financial and environmental cost of their print and document management strategy, recommend and implement change, and manage an organisations printer fleet on an on-going basis.  This whole system approach to print management aims to reduce the lifecycle environmental impacts and deliver ever improving resource efficiency.  Through this approach we are able to help our customers:

• Reduce energy consumption – for example at Lancashire County Council we reduced the total number of devices from 3500 to 600, resulting in an annual saving of 340,421kWh energy, 185 tonnes of scope 2 CO2 and £38,263 in energy costs• Reduce paper consumption – for example at the Driving Standards Agency we reduced paper consumption by more than 2.5m sheets per year, equivalent to at least 23 tonnes scope 3 CO2 from paper production, 7,973kg of solid waste and more than 150,000 gallons of waste water

• Reduces emissions from transport – reductions are achieved through remote monitoring and servicing, training of super users, efficient route planning and low emission vehicle fleet.  More than 24,000 service faults were cleared by a variety of remote methods during 2010.

• Reduce waste – It is common practice to retain our customer’s most efficient devices as part of a system redesign and our service engineers are trained to repair devices from most manufacturers on the market.  More than 27,000 used machines are tested, repaired or refurbished through our manufacturing facility every year.

The recent launch of Danwood’s Print Ecology branded range of products sees the culmination in our campaign to bring sustainable print and document management solutions to our customers. We recognise that environmental management is a continuous process of evaluation and improvement and as such the main board of directors are fully involved in the governance of environmental management throughout the Danwood organisation. We hold the universally recognised ISO 14001:2004 environmental management standard. Our business is based on helping organisations deliver environmental and fiscal saving, focussed around our expertise of print and document management.
