Kelantan to build RM20 million waste disposal plant

The Kelantan government is to build a RM20 million solid waste disposal plant in a joint venture with a foreign company.

Chairman of the State Local Government, Culture and Tourism Committee Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan said the plant using Taiwanese technology will be built at the waste disposal site at Kampung Telong in Kandis near Bachok.

“We will start construction work with a company from China on four hectares of land next year,” he told reporters here.

About sixty per cent of the waste collected by the local authorities will be sent to the plant, Takiyuddin said.

“What is so special about the plant is that it will be able to process organic waste into fertiliser,” he added.
