Hyundai to sell Sonata hybrid in Latin America

Hyundai Motor announced on Tuesday that it will enter the hybrid car market in Latin America with the launch of its Sonata Hybrid in Ecuador this month.

The carmaker hopes to strengthen its presence in the global hybrid market by expanding into this region after Asia and North America.

The Sonata Hybrid is suitable for mountainous landscapes as it is equipped with a newly developed hybrid power control unit for ease of driving in such conditions. The car also boasts impressive fuel economy.

“Beginning with Ecuador, we plan to expand our sales of hybrid cars to other Latin American countries,” said a Hyundai spokesman. It will be available in the Bahamas, Chile and Colombia later this year, among other countries.
