With disasters increasingly impacting the Asia-Pacific region, it is more important than ever to improve resilience and preparedness for disasters. To save lives and livelihoods, capacity needs to be built before a disaster hits. Communities and businesses have a cooperative role to play in building preparedness for effective response.
To support businesses in helping communities prepare for disasters, CSR Asia is hosting the first annual Forum on Disaster Preparedness sponsored by Prudential Corporation Asia’s Prudence Foundation. The aim is to bring together key leaders in the business, humanitarian, and government sector to explore and discuss opportunities for cooperation on disaster preparedness.
The inaugural CSR Asia Prudence Foundation Forum on Disaster Preparedness is a one-day event structured to provide delegates with practical tools and expert insights on how to implement responsible partnerships for improving community preparedness. It will examine best practices in partnership development, capacity building, employee volunteering, and innovation for much needed solutions.
At the end of the Forum, delegates will be brought together to discuss practical ways to advance business engagement in community preparedness efforts. The aim is to inspire real commitments for engagement. A White Paper commissioned by the Prudence Foundation on the role that Asian corporations can play in community disaster preparedness will be released at the Forum with valuable insight for businesses. The event also marks the development of a business network for Disaster Preparedness in Asia.
