IHS named to the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index for third straight year

IHS Inc. (NYSE: IHS), the leading global source of critical information and insight, today announced it has been named for a third consecutive year to the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index.

“We are honored and privileged to be named for the third time to the Dow Jones Sustainability North American Index,” said Jerre Stead, IHS chairman and chief executive officer. “Sustainability continues to be a core element of our business model and key to our future performance. We have embedded sustainability into every aspect of the IHS culture and it’s a critical part of the solutions we provide to our customers. This recognition of excellence in Sustainability was earned through the hard work and dedication of my fellow colleagues; I’m incredibly proud of them.”

According to the 2015 DJSI index results released last week, IHS improved across all three dimensions that make up a strong corporate sustainability framework: economic, environment and social. Within those dimensions, the index recognized IHS as excelling in four areas: customer delight, colleague engagement, environmental reporting, and occupational health and safety. IHS continues to develop and mature its sustainability processes as well as increase transparency, factors that are important in maintaining DJSI listing and recognition.

“We formally launched Corporate Sustainability at IHS almost five years ago; we’ve come a long way since then,” said Jane Okun Bomba, IHS senior vice president and chief sustainability officer. “From the beginning, we have focused on sustainability as a way to increase our competitiveness in a complex and changing world and to enable IHS to be a force for positive change. The company’s strong culture of sustainability — coupled with our information, analytics and expertise – enable IHS to lead the industry in helping clients develop and implement unified strategies to advance sustainable solutions.”

The Dow Jones Sustainability Indices were launched in 1999 as the first global sustainability benchmarks and are offered cooperatively by the SAM and S&P Dow Jones Indices to track the stock performance of the world’s leading companies in terms of economic, environmental and social criteria. The indices serve as benchmarks for investors who integrate sustainability considerations into their portfolios, and provide an effective engagement platform for companies who want to adopt sustainable best practices.
