In a momentous achievement, Gree Energy has proudly clinched the prestigious Dubai International Best Practices Award for Sustainable Development in the category of ‘Best Practices in Addressing Climate Change and Reducing Pollution’ at the esteemed World Government Summit 2024.
The World Government Summit is a global knowledge exchange platform for governments led by the Vice President and the Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Gree Energy’s Hamparan Project stood out among 2,638 initiatives from 144 countries. These submissions were thoroughly examined by a 32-member advisory jury that comprised experts, technicians and distinguished scientific personalities.
The Hamparan Project is a biogas-to-energy project that not only prevents methane emissions from a cassava starch factory but also generates clean energy that powers 19 neighbouring villages. The dual focus on preventing methane emissions and generating clean energy exemplifies a harmonious coexistence between industry and sustainability, offering a visionary glimpse into a future where economic growth aligns seamlessly with environmental responsibility.
Organised by the Dubai Municipality in collaboration with UN-Habitat, the award is a testament to Gree Energy’s mission to empower emerging countries by reducing methane emissions, treating wastewater, and creating clean energy opportunities. The recognition received at this esteemed platform underscores Gree Energy’s position as a trailblazer in the biogas industry in Southeast Asia.
