Global Sustainable Development Congress and Eco-Business launch joint initiative to unlock capital for Asia’s sustainable development

The Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC) and Eco-Business today announced a new joint initiative to mobilise the finance and leadership required to drive sustainable development across Asia. Through this collaboration, Eco-Business will host its flagship Unlocking Capital for Sustainability summit within the GSDC in Jakarta this June, focusing on the critical financial mechanisms needed to turn global sustainability goals into funded, actionable realities.

The summit will explore the theme of ‘Strengthening governance, securing resilience.’ This specialised summit will convene regional decision-makers to examine how robust governance reforms can de-risk investments and mobilise the capital necessary to achieve Indonesia’s long-term economic and sustainability aspirations.

This collaboration combines the GSDC’s comprehensive focus on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) with Eco-Business’ expertise in regional finance and business intelligence. Together, the two organisations will spotlight the role of capital in shaping the 2030 Agenda and showcase Asia’s leadership in the global transition to a sustainable economy.

Adeyemi Adeshiyan, Managing Director of the GSDC, said:

We are delighted to work with Eco-Business to enhance the impact of the congress. GSDC is built on the belief that the 17 SDGs provide the essential roadmap for our future. By integrating Eco-Business’s regional reach, we can better bridge the gap between these global goals and the practical, market-driven solutions needed to realise them in Asia.”

Jessica Cheam, Founder and Managing Director of Eco-Business, said:

Our Unlocking Capital for Sustainability summit aims to dismantle the barriers to sustainable development by aligning finance with long-term social and environmental outcomes. Partnering with GSDC supercharges this mission by blending Eco-Business’s reach across Asia and our business and policy focus, together with GSDC’s global sustainability expertise, this platform is designed to drive real capital commitments and policy shifts for Indonesia’s just transition ambitions.”

The 2026 agenda will drive collective action across its core tracks:

  • Designing resilient and inclusive cities that thrive
  • Harnessing technology to accelerate global transformation
  • Equitable higher education for global progress
  • Innovation and collaboration for a low-carbon future
  • Restoring balance for a sustainable future
