The signing of an alliance between two important organizations, the Latin American Quality Institute and the Sustain Group, took place within the framework of the Global Forum on Corporate Sustainability RIO+20.
Panama City, June 2012. The Latin American Quality Institute, South America’s leading institution in promoting quality, signed a new strategic alliance with the Sustain Group, an Australian organization dedicated to working with businesses, industries and communities in the transition to a sustainable future. The signing took place during the United Nations Rio+20 Conference on Sustainable Development.
The agreement between these two organizations seeks to develop, promote and maximize the exchange of ideas and business opportunities in order to manage the needs and challenges facing business leaders and Governments as they transition into a low carbon economy:
“I am convinced that this agreement will strengthen our goal of contributing to sustainable long-term business. Under the leadership of the Latin American Quality Institute and the Sustain Group, businesses on both continents will know more about the importance of carbon reduction in their operations as well as their supply chain, improving their ability to develop appropriate solutions” said Mr. Daniel Maximilian Da Costa, Founder & CEO of LAQI.
Mr. Da Costa also added: “This partnership provides a competitive advantage by strengthening our leadership position in Latin America. We are proud to start working with the Sustain Group to further strengthen the continuous improvement of business, industry and Government in terms of being agents of change”.
Meanwhile Matthew Tukaki, CEO of The Sustain Group, pointed out: “The discussions here in Brazil for Rio+20 point to a world in need of solutions whether they revolve around energy security and access, climate change and water, poverty alleviation and sustainable development. This alliance, between our two organizations and spanning two continents is equal recognition of the important role both Australia and South America play in terms of the regional and global economy.”
“Combining the Sustain Group’s consulting, education and employment services with LAQI’s focus on quality control and assurance, we have a strong partnership whereby we can help business, Government and communities transition and innovate towards a low carbon economy.” Mr. Tukaki said
The agreement struck in Rio is the first step in a much deeper alliance between LAQI and the Sustain Group which will also include knowledge transfer and services to support Australian companies operating in South America and Latin American companies operating in Australia.
