Venture capital deals flocking to cleantech

2011 was a very good year for making business deals in the renewables sector, said a new report from Frost & Sullivan. The report said most of these renewable energy deals were made in Europe and North America but that bidders were also focusing on South Asia and the Asia Pacific as emerging areas for the development of renewable energy. At present, it said, more than 50 per cent of the venture capital deals made went into clean energy investments. The newer applications of renewables technology like thin-film solar and advanced biofuels, the report said, are now garnering the most interest.
