Global market shifts towards green buildings

A new study shows that the global market trend is now viewing green buildings as a long-term business opportunity rather than a niche market. According to the study conducted by McGraw-Hill Construction and United Technologies, the changing trend in the global construction market is seeing 51 per cent of firms planning to make more than 60 per cent of their work a green building by 2015. Globally, the study said, there are large potentials to build green buildings in new commercial construction and in renovation of existing buildings.

Firms surveyed in the study said their top reasons for commissioning green work are client and market demand.
