High-level dinner and discussion: raising ambitions of sustainable palm oil

CDP invites you to join us for a high-level dinner and robust discussion to explore opportunities to accelerate ambitious action from the world’s largest businesses in the palm oil sector.

Recognising the critical role of palm oil and the urgency of decoupling deforestation from corporate value chains, CDP engages with companies up and down palm oil supply chains to promote greater transparency and supplier engagement in order to support the implementation of zero-deforestation commitments.

Transparency in palm oil supply chains – and across all commodities and environmental impact areas – is increasing. Yet, the world is dangerously off track in meeting the commitments of the Paris Agreement.

Only a handful of companies are projected to achieve their 2020 deforestation-free commitments. We firmly believe that it is possible to achieve these goals, but only if we move from incremental change to transformational action. We would welcome your presence to discuss and provide insights into this very exciting and challenging topic.

During this event, we will bring together palm oil key stakeholders to explore the ways we can mobilize this powerful network to transform the current system, becoming an enabler of a deforestation-free future. We will host two discussion topics including: how to drive greater transparency and action from companies in the region; and how Jurisdictional Approaches can support companies in achieving commitments.

To help frame the conversation, we will also be sharing an early preview of the insights and analysis from CDP’s 2019 Indonesia Palm Oil Report, which will be launched on the 5th November.

We look forward to discussing the ways in which we, as a forest community, can work decisively to deliver on our ambitions over the next ten years.
