CSR Asia Forum Myanmar

Responsible and Inclusive Business in Myanmar

A shared vision for the future of Myanmar’s economy

Is it possible to advance sustainable development through business and in partnership with business?

The potential is widely recognised, but business operations in transitional countries like Myanmar are challenging. Growth and investment are needed to contribute to the country’s economic development. But what kind of growth and investment Myanmar attracts and the way in which the local economy is revitalised will determine whether this development is indeed sustainable and inclusive.

This event brings together leaders, practitioners and experienced observers of the rapidly changing economic development and investment context in Myanmar to discuss the potential and opportunities - as well as the risks and challenges for responsible and inclusive business practices in Myanmar. It will reflect on lessons learnt over the past two years and offer practical insights and perspectives on key CSR issues and approaches. There will also be opportunity for dialogue and discussion. The Programme includes:

•  CSR Asia Report Launch

The event marks the launch of a CSR Asia report on responsible and inclusive business strategies for operating in Myanmar. The report is based on extensive research and engagement over the past six months and aims to provide guidance for business strategies and practices that protect the organisation from sustainability risks and contribute to sustainable development in Myanmar.

•  A Panel Session on Perspectives for an Enabling Environment

This session will offer perspectives on foreign investment in Myanmar and the changing policy and regulatory environment for both foreign and local companies. It will discuss the risks of unsustainable business conduct and expectations for responsible and inclusive business practices.

•  A Panel Session on Experiences and Visions for the Future

Speakers will share experiences from both local and international companies on the business case and unity of purpose towards a sustainable economic future for Myanmar amongst all stakeholders. Speakers will also share some thoughts on the visions for the future of Myanmar’s economy and delegates will have the chance to put forward some of their own.

• Drinks & Networking
