Sun-drenched Ilocos Norte soon to host a 20-MW solar park

Korean firm Mirae Asia Energy Corp. (MAEC) is set to build a 20-MW solar park in the province of Ilocos Norte in the Philippines. MAEC and officials of the Ilocos Norte provincial government broke ground earlier this month to start construction of the solar project. The Currimao solar farm is one of two projects the Department of Energy has in the pipeline for Ilocos Norte. The province is also expecting the construction of a 50-MW solar energy project in the towns of Pasuquin and Burgos. The Currimao solar farm is planned for completion by May 2014.
