SINGAPORE, 3rd October - As the first electricity retailer in Singapore to offer 100 per cent carbon-neutral electricity to both commercial and residential consumers, I SWITCH PTE LTD (iSwitch Energy) has been a strong advocate of championing the need for climate change awareness.
As part of our commitment towards a greener future, we are pleased to be a strategic partner of the Eco-Business Changing Course exhibit to be held in the ArtScience Museum from the 4th October to 3rd of November 2019. The multimedia exhibition which is free to the public seeks to bring visitors through an exploration of our climate crisis and how it is affecting the very world we are living in.
This exhibition features a gallery of photographic prints by a team of award-winning journalists and a VR experience on the global climate crisis. In addition, there will be a global premiere of the film documentary, Arctic Awakening, shot in the Arctic and Singapore by Eco-Business managing editor Jessica Cheam and multimedia journalist Fraser Morton. Changing Course 2019 is an initiative to raise the awareness of our climate crisis and inspire action to address it.
At iSwitch, we recognise that the usage of electricity from our electricity grid indirectly contributes to carbon emissions and, as such, we have actively introduced initiatives such as the iSwitch2Green Carbon Credit Offset scheme in response to the pledge Singapore made under the 2015 Paris Agreement.
To date, we have helped over 15,000 residential and commercial customers save 50,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent of emissions. We do this by offsetting our customer’s carbon footprint by purchasing carbon credits on their behalf and we do this at no additional charge.
We have helped various institutions break new grounds such as Dulwich College Singapore becoming the first educational institution to be 100per cent carbon neutral as well as Hotel Vagabond and the Six Senses Hotels leading the hotel industry as the first carbon neutral hotels in Singapore.
As a strategic partner of Changing Course 2019, we look forward to attending the exhibition opening with our Chief Commercial Officer, Andrew Koscharsky, contributing his thoughts as part of a panel discussion on the need for business action on climate change.
As a stout believer in sustainable energy, we also are looking forward to networking with other green conscious companies and introduce our green electricity plans to forge towards a greener future.
The Eco-Business Changing Course Exhibit 2019 opening event will be held on 4th October 2019 (Friday) at the ArtScience Museum, Marina Bay Sand and begins at 1.30pm with the panel discussion commencing at 2.05pm.
