World Economic Forum hires Georgie Passalaris as impact measurement lead

The former Diageo executive takes on a role to measure the impact of the World Economic Forum’s sustainability programmes.

Former Diageo sustainability executive Georgie Passalaris has joined the World Economic Forum (WEF).

She joins the Geneva-headquartered non-government organisation to drive the impact measurement and management of WEF’s programmes that run in support of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals and Paris Agreement climate targets. 

Passalaris will be working for the Platform for Global Public Goods, which drives WEF’s activities concerning the environment, natural resources, food security, development finance and sustainable development. She will be based in Geneva, and will move from Singapore, where she has been based for almost a decade.

WEF, which was founded in the early 1970s, is a platform for bringing businesses, governments and academe together for its mission to “improve the state of the world.”

The South African joins WEF after a period consulting on a range of sustainability projects in Asia Pacific, the United Kingdom and the United States. Before that, she was global skills and empowerment manager, sustainable development, for Diageo, based in Singapore.

Over 13 years in various roles with the British alcoholic beverages firm, where she started as corporate social responsility manager based in Sydney, her achievements included Plan W, a global women’s empowerment programme.

This year, Passalaris worked on the development and launch of Lionpur, a non-toxic sanitisation formula designed to kill airborne and surface pathogens including coronavirus.
