Green businesses urged to make voices heard on air pollution laws

Green businesses are being urged to submit their views as part of a major European pollution policy review that could bolster measures to tackle poor air quality and boost the market for clean transport technologies.

Despite improvements in air quality over recent decades, EU pollution standards are still not as stringent as those recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO).

In addition, a number of member states, including the UK, are failing to comply with existing legal limits on pollution, despite the risk of multi-million euro fines.

As this year is officially the EU’s Year of Air, the commission has launched a full review of its air quality policies, which cover limits on pollution levels and emissions of greenhouse gases, particulates and ozone.
