Food-sharing app Olio has parted ways with the founding director of its fledgling Singapore operation following a restructure.

Yien Li Yap was appointed to run Olio in Singapore in February 2022, with a brief to help increase local acceptance of sharing food and household items in Singapore.

Olio, which was founded by British entrepreneurs Tessa Clarke and Saasha Celestial-One in 2015, enables companies and individuals to share unwanted food and other items. The app has amassed around 104,000 listings in the last two months in Singapore. Globally, the app has around 5 million users.

The firm has restructured so that international markets are now run from the UK, led by director of commercial and international markets Tess Kermode, Olio confirmed.

Yap has moved to food catering company Food+ by Compass, where she is Asia Pacific sustainability manager. Her new role involves supporting the global team with the delivery of food-related sustainability goals, and implementing sustainability initiatives across the region.

Food+ by Compass is owned by British food services contract firm Compass Group, which operates in 50 countries. Food+ by Compass provides catering for tech firm Google.

Prior to Olio, Yap ran business development for Winnow, a firm that produces technology to help chefs manage food waste. Her CV includes stints at SPRING Singapore, a government agency for small businesses, and The Chain Reaction Project, a non-profit that helps women and children in developing countries.
