To launch the Vitol Industry Speaker Series, the Singapore Management University and Vitol are pleased to present an empowering presentation by Robert Swan, OBE, one of the world’s pre-eminent polar explorers and environmental leaders, and the first person to walk to both the North and South Poles.
He is driven by his life-long commitment to preserve Antarctica by engaging, inspiring, and educating leaders and emerging leaders across the globe. The dramatic story of success, failure, and leadership that evolved out of his expeditions and subsequent transition to global motivator has the power to inspire and uplift any audience.
His presentation highlights the key elements of successful leadership and what it takes to achieve the impossible. It also raises awareness about the issue of climate change and the importance of people and businesses around the world adopting sustainable, renewable energy practices, so that Antarctica will never be exploited for its resources.
About the Vitol Industry Speaker Series
Starting with Vitol Asia’s contributions towards the education of students on the International Trading Track at Singapore Management University (SMU) in 2007, the partnership between SMU, International Trading Institute (ITI) and Vitol Asia has grown from strength to strength. The launch of the Vitol Industry Speaker Series in 2011 marks a new milestone in this partnership. The Vitol Industry Speaker Series aims to be both thought-provoking and inspirational; challenging participants to explore issues confronting current and future generations. Held annually over a duration of 4 years, the Vitol Industry Speaker Series will revolve around issues concerning the environment, energy and related industries.
