Workshop: digital solutions for farmers

From a promising concept incubated in Thomson Reuters in 2007, Reuters Market Light (now RML AgTech) has since developed into a digital platform providing millions of farmer users with decision-critical price, weather, advisory and market information leveraging the power of data, technology and mobile phones.

During this session, RML’s Founder Amit Mehra will discuss his experience of leading the business through various stages of innovation - initially within a large corporate and subsequently as an independent company.

He will cover issues such as iterating on the product - from feature phones to smart-phones, building a conducive operating and governance model, experimenting with a variety of B2C and B2B business models and bringing the digital solution to scale.

Very few digital solutions for smallholder farmers have experienced the degree of success and sustainability that RML has.

If you are interested in learning how to effectively innovate and utilize digital tools to engage and reach farmers, this workshop offers a compelling opportunity to hear from someone who is very much in the know.

The workshop is co-hosted by Grow Asia, a multi-stakeholder partnership platform bringing together companies, governments, NGOs and other stakeholders to help smallholder farmers improve their production and livelihood through access to information, knowledge, markets and finance.

The partnership was established by the World Economic Forum in collaboration with the ASEAN Secretariat.
