International Forum on Energy Security

Energy security is becoming a significant concern for countries. With the increasing consumption and price of fossil fuels, energy security is being challenged. China’s energy security has received high attention from both Chinese leaders and foreign counterparts. Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has expressed to safeguard energy security effectively. Developing low-carbon economy is an important means to achieve energy security, save energy and reduce emissions. “Low-carbon development”, as a key expression in the 12th Five-year Plan of China, has received broad attention. Premier Wen also said to advocate low-carbon lifestyle and to realize low-carbon utilization of high-carbon energy sources.

Under the support of relevant Chinese ministries, the Institute of Quantitative & Technical Economics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, the Center for Studies on China’s Circular Economy and Environment (CSCCEE) and China Energy and Strategic Resources Research Center will co-organize 2012 International Forum on Energy Security and Low Carbon Economy, with ATKEPP Ltd as the operating partner. The purpose is to promote China’s communication and exchange with the rest of world in the fields of energy security and policy, explore best practices in energy security and low carbon economy, make effective policy recommendations to governments, and identify win-win partnerships, making contribution to the sustainable development of the world. Meanwhile, this Forum is also a support to the International Year of Sustainable Energy for All.
