Despite an array of interventions encouraging safer and more ethical recruitment of migrant workers, many challenges remain difficult to overcome in a systemic way. These include debt bondage and unsafe living arrangements, creating longer-term implications on the stability of global value chains of which many of us rely on.
In 2023, Forum for the Future initiated the Shaping the Future of Responsible Recruitment programme in Malaysia, which created a unique platform for a cohort of employers, recruitment agents (Malaysia and Nepal-based), migrant worker representatives and civil society organisations to collectively:
- Inquire into why certain barriers to responsible recruitment are tough to address.
- Explore where the levers of change to embedding responsible recruitment practices are.
- Design actions that can bring about new approaches.
This webinar, Innovating for Responsible Recruitment in Malaysia, will share insights from the activities of our Collaborative Action Platform over 2024, including the innovative ideas designed by the cohort and how they can potentially be scaled.
