2025 Green Steel Europe Summit

2025 Green Steel Europe Summit

Currently, the European Union has adopted the ‌European Green Deal‌35 and the ‌”Fit for 55” package‌, mandating a 55 per cent reduction in carbon emissions by 2030 compared to 1990 levels, and plans to drive the decarbonisation of domestic and imported steel products through the CBAM. Meanwhile, European steel enterprises face dual challenges: on one hand, the persistently high carbon intensity of traditional BF-BOF processes necessitates a transition to disruptive technologies such as DRI‌ and EAF short-process routes‌; on the other hand, barriers including soaring green premium costs, scrap supply chain bottlenecks, and cross-border standardisation hurdles constrain large-scale implementation. This conference will explore the green steel industry in Europe across four dimensions: core decarbonisation technology pathways, policy and market mechanisms, industrial chain collaboration and innovation, frontier technological breakthroughs, and investment-societal transitions. The summit brings together EU policymakers, global steel industry leaders, technology suppliers, international organisations, and academic think tanks. It aims to bridge the gaps between technology, capital, and markets through cross-sector dialogue, charting an actionable carbon neutrality roadmap for the steel industry in Europe and globally.
