Sarah Lake

Sarah is the Corporate Engagement Research Analyst for Global Forest Watch. She works to build partnerships with corporations interested in utilizing GFW to improve their sourcing strategies of palm oil, and other commodities directly linked to deforestation.

Sarah previously researched global supply chains in agriculture and manufacturing. With funding from the USDA sustainable agriculture program and the University of Colorado-Boulder she conducted extensive research on inter-firm relationships and environmental factors in global supply chains. Her most recent research on U.S. beef production targets concerns with extended drought and value-added certification programs. Prior to graduate school Sarah worked in renewable energy advocacy, and enjoyed a short stint working at a florist shop.

Sarah will obtain a Ph.D in sociology (August 2014) with a specialty in environmental and economic sociology from the University of Colorado-Boulder, and she currently holds a B.A. in sociology from Reed College.
