Japan Divestment Campaigner

Shin currently heads the 350.org Japan office based in Tokyo, which is spearheading a divestment campaign to push Japan’s commercial banks to decarbonize their portfolios in line with the Paris Agreement. Prior to working for 350.org, Shin was an Assistant Director at the Australian Government Department of Environment where he led multi-country programs to support climate adaptation efforts in small-island countries. Shin has also worked as an independent consultant for the United Nations Development Programme, GIZ and Remote Sensing Technology Centre of Japan as a climate change specialist. Shin holds a Master of Climate Change from the Australian National University and Bachelor of Social Science/Arts from the University of Queensland, Australia.
