Penny recently graduated from Hwa Chong Institution and will be pursuing undergraduate studies in Urban Studies in the United States.
The experience of living in different cities while growing up first piqued her fascination in urban spaces, and exposed her to the intricate relationships between urban design, public policies, and the city experience for its residents. Driven by an interest in bottom-up environmental initiatives, she completed a research project on the relationship between public spaces and sustainable development and organised recycling projects in her community.
Finding solace while spending time in nature, Penny firmly believes in the imperative to augment environmental action in Singapore and globally to protect our only home for our next generation. She is interested in exploring the spaces between civil society, private entities, and the public sector in generating innovative possibilities to advance the goals of sustainable development.
