Over the last few years, Oman has been the front runner in implementing key policies nationwide in initiating and implementing important changes in their waste management strategy. In order to facilitate the Sultanate’s vision, Fleming Gulf is organising the 3rd International Conference for Waste Management Oman with the support of Muscat Municipality.
Said Khalaf Al Abri from Oman Environmental Services Holding Company ‘Be’ah’ is to highlight the key strategic development plan for Waste Management in Oman. Al Abri will speak on the projects in the pipeline to help achieve Oman’s waste initiative.
Some of the key sessions will feature prestigious speakers representing Al Ahlia Services, Port of Salalah, Supreme Council of Environment Bahrain, KISR, Friends of Environment Center, Sultan Qaboos University, ORYX GTL and Weatherford amongst others.
Key focus will be on NORM (Naturally Occurring Radioactive Material) waste disposal techniques, effective medical waste management, waste reduction, recovery, reuse and recycling and landfill management. Highlight will include policy changes and how privatizing within the sectors is taking place.
The conference will also have Intensive panels discussing how source segregation as a norm and initiation of a recycling culture can prove to be a success.
The two day industry event will also feature some key international case studies from developed regions like Singapore, Germany, Finland and Egypt on their implementation of an integrated waste management plan and better handling of hazardous waste material.
This would be represented by leading industry bodies like Singapore Environment Council, Federal Environment Agency Germany, Finnish Material Efficiency Alliance and Engineering Task Group Egypt.
The 3rd International Conference for Waste Management Oman is scheduled for the 7 and 8 April 2014 at the Al Bustan Palace in Muscat with the support of our prestigious sponsors to the event; FMEA, Al Ahlia Services and Polyeco. The conference is also supported by the World Safety Organisation and local trade media Waste and Recycling Middle East, Zero Waste MENA and World Environment TV.
