AFCSR explores viable ways for corporations to address social concerns

Inclusive growth remains to be elusive for many economies, as they struggle to bounce back from the global economic crisis and address pressing social concerns faced by many communities across the region.

This year’s Asian Forum on Corporate Social Responsibility (AFCSR) explores the role of corporations in providing sustainable programs that address these social concerns, which oftentimes require long-term vision, scalable solutions, and innovative approaches. Scheduled on September 23-24, 2013 at the Grand Hyatt-Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia, AFCSR 2013 is expected to draw in over 400 participants from the private sector, government, civil society, and the academe to share best practices and craft strategies to create lasting positive impact across Asia’s communities.

“This year’s theme, ‘CSR and the Challenge of Inclusive Growth’, aims to address the twin themes of social equity and scalable, innovative approaches,” explains Dr. Francisco L. Roman, Executive Director of the Asian Institute of Management – Ramon V. del Rosario, Jr. Center for Corporate Social Responsibility (AIM-RVR CSR Center) and Conference Executive Director of AFCSR 2013. “The focus of the conference is on sharing innovative approaches, lessons learned, and continuing challenges in achieving societal outcomes that are both resilient and sustainable.”

AFCSR 2013 will feature speakers representing the private sector, government, academe, and NGOs from the US, UK, Indonesia, Philippines, China, Thailand, Vietnam, Lao PDR, Singapore, Australia, Germany, and Liechtenstein, among others.

Introduced in 2002 by the AIM-RVR CSR Center, AFCSR’s mission is to highlight innovative programs and best practices in CSR, to promote CSR as a key strategy in addressing public needs and problems, and to build a network of CSR practitioners across Asia.

“The conference is designed around a general framework for understanding the process involved in developing innovative approaches to addressing social concerns within the context of a corporation,” explains Dr. Roman. “The framework takes into account the need to ensure that the solutions are not only scalable and sustainable, but that they are deeply integrated to the business philosophy and operations.”

AFCSR 2013 is co-organized by Intel Corporation with Principal Hosts Lippo Group of Companies, First Pacific and PT Indofood Sukses Makmur. The event is also supported by PT Media Televisi Indonesia as Platinum Sponsor, PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia and PT PERTAMINA (Persero) as Gold Sponsor, GIZ Indonesia and TEE International Ltd. as Silver Sponsors and PT Baruna Raya Logistics as Cooperating Sponsor.

Registration to the event costs US$650, exclusive of transportation and accommodation costs. Interested participants may visit www.asianforumcsr.com or contact (632) 752 1208 or email delegates.afcsr@aim.edufor more information.
