Cisco launches solutions with energy-saving feature

Cisco has just launched Borderless Access and a range of products and services innovations that allows for energy efficiency, security, and high video capabilities in the use of wired-wireless communications.

Through this infrastructure, Borderless Access networking solutions provide organisations with more advanced communications mobility, offering its staff the competency to connect on the go and interact more effectively anywhere, in a secure and seamless manner.

Worth noting is the EnergyWise function. Combined with the Orchestrator, users can significantly cut their carbon footprint and operating costs through energy management using network intelligence and devices such as PCs, laptops and Power over Ethernet (POE). Another service available is EnergyWise SDK, which lets developers implement EnergyWise support in their products. Through switching to these new platforms, businesses can look at up to 50% energy savings.

The products introduced by Cisco this time around include a range of switches and routers, namely Cisco Catalyst 3750-X, 3560-X and 2960-S, and the Cisco ISR G2 and ASR- 1000 family of routers respectively. Other new professional services offered fall in the areas of planning and design, video applications and security.
